Trojans in the NFL: Week 4

Justin Fargas (RB - Oakland) was a surprise star, picking up a career-high 179 yards on 22 carries with a long of 48. He replaced injured starter LaMont Jordan just before halftime.

Matt Leinart (QB - Arizona) started, was replaced by Kurt Warner, then returned in the fourth quarter to lead a touchdown drive that put the game out of reach against Pittsburgh. He was 7-of-14 for 93 yards.

Dwayne Jarrett (WR - Carolina) played in the first game of his career and had a 6-yard catch.

Winston Justice
(LT - Philadelphia) got the first start of his career, and boy did it look like he had never played before.

Lofa Tatupu (LB - Seattle) had eight tackles and forced a fumble in a victory over San Francisco.

Troy Polamalu (S - Pittsburgh) had two tackles and forced a fumble against Matt Leinart's Cardinals.

Willie McGinest (LB - Cleveland) assisted on a tackle in his first game of the year.

Keary Colbert (WR - Carolina) made grabs of 10 and 6 yards in a loss to Tampa Bay.

Shaun Cody (DT - Detroit) had a tackle in a win over Chicago.

Kenechi Udeze (DE - Minnesota) made two tackles in a loss to Green Bay.

Monday Night Football
: New England heads to Cincinnati in a showdown of two marquee NFL QBs. Carson Palmer will be at the helm for the Bengals while his former backup, Matt Cassell, plays second fiddle for the Pats. On defense, New England has a pair of Trojan linebackers named Oscar Lua and Junior Seau. Cincinnati also has DT Frostee Rucker. Lua and Rucker have yet to play this season.

[MNF Update: Carson was 21/35 for 234 yards with 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions. His Bengals got beat so badly that Cassell got in the game to do mop-up duty for the Pats. Seau and Lua did not play, but Rucker got in and had a tackle.]

It would be helpful if you included the teams for all players. I'm a fan of college ball, and don't really track where the kids go after they graduate. Justice? Jarrett? Who drafted them again?

CFF - I've standardized the format and included all teams for players who were saw action in The League. I'll keep it consistent in the future. Thanks for the tip!

After dropping down to the second round in the draft, Dwayne Jarrett got lucky when he was picked by Carolina. Had Jarrett stayed at USC for his senior year, HE would have been USC's Heisman Trophy candidate and not John David Booty. Instead, - Jarrett isn't exactly lighting things on fire down in Charlotte, given he just caught his first NFL pass in Week 4 !

Winston Justice also came out as a Junior the year before: no doubt he could have used another year at the college level. And what of the others.....Darnell Bing? Is he still warming the Raiders bench?

For next year's draft, as bad as Booty played last Saturday, he's still WAY better than Rex Grossman ! Speaking of John David Booty, I think there should be an NCAA rule that prohibits any player from using three names outside of the Southeast Conference.
