The petite "Dynasty" star co-hosted the event, "A Parisian Afternoon," with the designer on Wednesday afternoon at Klein's Beverly Boulevard boutique. (Collins' daughter-in-law, jewelry designer Angela Tassoni Newley, also presented her collection of glitzy statement baubles, Tassoni, at the event.)
And I wasn't the only one anxious for a glimpse of the iconic actress -- whose "Dynasty"-era style has influenced brands from Balmain to Forever 21 in recent years.
A gaggle of reporters and guests anxiously awaited her arrival. And when she finally swept in the front door, wearing a drape-y black dress and loads of gold jewelry, even actress Shannon Elizabeth wasn't above taking a quickie snapshot of the actress from afar.
Collins posed for photographers in front of a bank of models wearing Klein's newest collection -- a mix of separates and and cocktail dresses featuring the designer's signature detailing and meticulous tailoring -- posed in rotating still-life vignettes. Meanwhile, Newley, whose line mixes vintage elements with 14- to 24-carat gold, crystals and precious and semi-precious stones, displayed her bold pieces on glass vitrines in the back of the shop.
Klein, who's been friends with Newley for years and personally went to pick up Collins for the event, revealed that he has a clutch of diffusion collections in the works -- all of which will bear the Lloyd Klein name or initials.
"We're going to cover all the markets with the different brands," he said. "But they will all be about California. You know how much I love L.A."
