In the festive run-up to the Academy Awards, a fashion and art-heavy crowd gathered at the Prism gallery on Saturday for "Araki: A Perspective," showing works by noted Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, who recently shot Lady Gaga for Japanese Hommes Vogue. Checking out Araki's erotic and floral prints were past Academy Award winners Adrien Brody and Marisa Tomei along with Jeremy Piven plus Jimmy Choo’s Tamara Mellon, Liz Goldwyn, Guinevere Van Seenus, Cordula Reyer and Devon Aoki. Singer Avril Lavigne also dropped by on the arm of Brandon Davis.

LEklannPCValmorbida_030610 Fiat heir Lapo Elkann was in town from Italy for the Vanity Fair party and to meet with potential distributors for his Italia Independent made-in-Italy menswear collection, which he was suited up in from head to toe. “Italia Independent would give a modern elegant and Mediterranean look to L.A. men, which I humbly think they would need,” he said.

Liz Goldwyn opens her vintage vault -- for a Web auction

Rage_goldwyn11 Writer, filmmaker and avid vintage collector Liz Goldwyn, whom we've dubbed the "prom queen" in this week's yearbook-style superlative roundup of L.A.'s fashion scene, has decided to part with some of the fashionable finds she's accumulated over the years.

The first pieces from her extensive treasure trove of shoes, bags, dresses and jewelry will go up for auction through the BungalowTwentyFour EBay site on Monday (find the goods by clicking on the "Liz Goldwyn Vintage" section).

We're told that the opening bids will be in the quite reasonable $8 to $30 range and that Goldwyn will be adding merchandise on an ongoing basis.

Initial pieces we've seen include a pair of  1970s Bottega Veneta boots, an Albert Nippon dress, a 1960s Dior gold bracelet, a vintage camouflage print jumper, a Monet snake chain necklace and a vintage green velvet hat.

Though we have yet to see any of the goods up close, based on the photos we've seen -- and knowing the fashionable femme's discerning eye and reputation as an aficionado of all things vintage -- it should definitely be worth checking out.

It's kind of like having Goldwyn as your own personal shopper -- as long as you happen to be her size.

Liz Goldwyn's vintage auction starts Monday at 6 p.m. PDT at http://tiny.cc/LizGoldwynVintage.
