Jimmy Choo to design wellies

53145483W23600_dov_1 What: Limited-edition Jimmy Choo wellies, thanks to a partnership with the luxury line and Hunter, maker of the iconic Brit field boots for farmers and Londoners with stone country houses and horses. Choo designer Tamara Mellon has said: "I was inspired by images from the festivals of the hip Brit girls in their wellies." (per WGSN.com) Clearly, she means this shot of Kate Moss at the 2005 Glastonbury Festival.

When: The boots will be available this June on JimmyChoo.com, and they actually sound cute, with black embossed crocodile print, gold buckle hardware and a leopard-print lining.

Why: These "Chellies" may be the most affordable Choos yet, though prices have not yet been released. I personally love the Hunter boot in Midnight Sparkle, a traditional style with subtle sparkle added to the vulcanized rubber, which sells for about $98 (65 pounds).

Why not: Duh. We live in L.A.

Deck the halls with Jimmy Choo

Jimmy Choo shoes can be sparkly and festive, but Choos as Christmas tree ornaments? Why not? On  Nov. 22, a tree decorated in top to bottom Jimmy Choo accessories will be unveiled in the lobby of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The “ornaments” are from the Cruise 2009 collection. Good thing, because boots from Fall/Winter wouldn’t work quite as well as some bright strappy sandals.  1celeste_rainbow_snake_multicol

And like a high-end version of "The Price Is Right," guests staying at the hotel will get to submit what they believe to be the total value of the tree. The person who guesses closest to the actual amount wins a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes, a Jimmy Choo handbag, a two-night stay at the Beverly Wilshire, a private consultation with Jimmy Choo and treatments at the hotel spa.

1christy_crystal_mesh_multicol The tree will be up until Dec. 31 and the winner will be announced Jan. 10.

OK, so a lot of us aren’t even eligible because we live in L.A. and most likely won’t be booking a hotel room in town.  But the R.O.I. may be worth getting a room at the Beverly Wilshire for a night ...
