Gone in 20 minutes: $1,500 one-of-a-kind Farrah Fawcett Barbie doll sells quickly

Despite the flurry of shopping that took place on Black Friday, there's one thing you most assuredly didn't get a chance to buy -- a one-of-a-kind Farrah Fawcett Barbie doll -- based on the late actress' top-selling poster.

A prototype for the Farrah Fawcett doll set to launch in fall  2011, the doll is to traditional Barbie doll scale, though unlike a regular Barbie, it was sculpted to emulate the exact pose from the iconic poster.

The one-off item, listed on the last page of a recent Barbie Blonde Collection catalog, carried a $1,500  price tag (which included a multi-stripe Mexican blanket backdrop), and became available with the rest of the items in the catalog on Nov. 16 at 9 a.m. PST.

And, according to a Mattel representative, the prototype sold within the first 20 minutes of the sale.

Although the fine print in the catalog warns that it could take up to five weeks for it to be delivered, there's part of me that hopes the lucky purchaser will get the doll in time for Christmas.

Because what could be better than having an angel on the top of your tree and a "Charlie's Angel" under it?
