National Spelling Bee word morphs into a T-shirt

Guetapens_cafepress
What's our favorite new word that we never heard of before?

Guetapens. It means "snare" or "ambush," and it's the word that Snigdha Nandipati, an eighth-grader at Francis Parker School in La Jolla, nailed on Thursday to win this year's National Spelling Bee Championship.

The quick-thinking folks at online retailer CafePress printed a T-shirt in honor of this obscure word (so obscure it is not in my Webster's) vaulting into the popular lexicon. Men's, women's and kids' versions come in nine different colors; crewneck, scoop- or V-neck styles; tanks, long or short sleeves -- all for  sale on the website starting around $18.99 for a tank.

I think I might be guetapensed into buying one.
