Stella McCartney had a fun way of showing her resort 2013 collection on Monday. She showed the collection outdoors with a carnival theme and had midway-type games, ice cream sandwiches and a lemonade stand for guests -- including Anne Hathaway, Adam Shulman, Jim Carrey and Solange Knowles. Spray tans may not be as safe as we thought they were. A panel of medical experts expressed concern after reviewing studies that the main ingredient used in spray tanning products could have the potential to cause ‘genetic alterations’ or cancer if inhaled, and they called for more studies. The profile by Joan Juliet Buck focused on her style as a ‘rose in the desert’ and ignored her husband’s repressive regime. Now, with the subsequent bloody uprising in Syria, Buck is saying she never wanted to write the article in the first place, Editor in Chief Anna Wintour is apologizing (more or less) and questions are being raised about the extent to which a public relations firm for Assad may have influenced the article as well as other positive depictions of the couple that appeared in Western media before the Arab Spring. Graffiti artists André Saraiva and Shepard Fairey have each created his and her denim jackets for Levi’s, which will be sold exclusively at the brand’s new store in Paris. The artists will also serve as DJs at a store party when the jackets go on sale June 14. [WWD]
