Fashion News: Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent could inspire a smoky makeup look

The first photo is out showing Angelina Jolie in the title role of the Disney film ‘Maleficent,’ and she does have that regal-yet-spooky dragon lady look. The film is in production and due for release in 2014. We can definitely see potential here for a makeup line of smoky looks. The film, directed by Robert Stromberg, stars Jolie, Elle Fanning, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson and Juno Temple. [MSN]


Fashion police -- real fashion police -- were out in force Tuesday for the opening of the annual Royal Ascot races. Fashion cops like the one pictured here were enforcing the event’s new dress code -- passing out pashminas to cover bare shoulders, fascinators for uncovered heads and ties and waistcoats for gentlemen who needed them. Justin Bieber’s first fragrance, Someday, was a blockbuster, with annual sales reaching $39 million. Now the crooner is back with Girlfriend, which he described as a ‘more mature’ version of its predecessor, which was the No. 1 women’s fragrance launch of 2011. Debra Martin Chase -- producer of “The Princess Diaries,” “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” “Lemonade Mouth,” “The Cheetah Girls” and the upcoming ‘Sparkle,’ due out this August and starring Mike Epps and the late Whitney Houston -- was the guest of honor Monday night at a dinner hosted by the Blackhouse Foundation in conjunction with the L.A. Film Festival. Blackhouse works with film festivals to increase opportunities for black filmmakers. Among those attending were Epps, Vivica Fox, Shaun Robinson and Jesse Williams. [Society News LA]
