Fashion News: Michelle Obama inspires Julia-Louis Dreyfuss' look

The style inspiration for Julia Louis-Dreyfuss' character  in her new HBO series "Veep" was First Lady Michelle Obama. “Michelle Obama is the best thing that Washington, D.C., has seen in a long time,” lead costume designer Ernesto Martinez told the New York Times. [NYT]

An exhibition of gowns, letters and other artifacts that once belonged to England's Princess Diana is scheduled to open June 16 aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, Calif. The ship's management has teamed with the Pink Ribbons Crusade (a breast cancer awareness organization) to put on the exhibit  of more than 2,000 items, many on display for the first time.  The exhibit is expected to be open for at least a year. Betsey Johnson LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which allows it to reorganize. But it is reportedly closing most of its 63 stores, with plans to focus on its lower-priced offerings, sold at mass-market retailers. [WWD] (Subscription required.)

Fashion designer Prabul Gurung has done a spring collection of nail polishes for Sally Hansen that live up to the hype. They are inspired by Nobuyashi Araki's photographic series Sensual Flower and come in sparkly purple, violet and mint. Available at CVS. [The Cut]
