Fashion News: Spanx packs a punch for founder Sara Blakely

March 9, 2012 |  8:18 am

Spanx owner Sara Blakely has made it onto Forbes' world's billionaires list
Spanx, the slimming, shaping undergarments that are many a woman's best friend (and some men like them too), has propelled company owner Sara Blakely onto Forbes' world's billionaires list. At 41, she's the youngest woman to join the list  "without help from a husband or an inheritance," the magazine said. "She is part of a tiny, elite club of American women worth ten figures on their own, including Oprah Winfrey and Meg Whitman." Ashley Olsen hasn't made a movie since 2004, but now it's official: Olsen says she has given up acting for good in order to devote time to other things -- such as fashion lines The Row and Elizabeth and James, which she designs with twin sister Mary-Kate. [Los Angeles Times]
