The lovely wedding dress Alexander McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton designed for the Duchess of Cambridge has been nominated for a prestigious British design award. It is one of two McQueen nominations in the London Design Museum’s Designs of the Year competition. ‘Savage Beauty,’ the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art’s retrospective on the late McQueen’s work, is also in contention. Lead colorist Cherry Petenbrink had to come up with fanciful colors for the cast, including 500 extras. There are blue ponytails and pink curls and other rainbow hues. She predicts we’ll see a trend. This week, the Calvin Klein Collection and the Peggy Siegal Co. threw a party in New York for ‘Glee’ star Darren Criss, in town to replace Daniel Radcliffe in ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’ for a few weeks. [WWD]
