At the New York premiere of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” Rooney Mara looked much rosier than Lisbeth Salander, the tech-punk misfit character she portrays in the film, due out in theaters Dec. 20.

Clad in a revealing, black Prabal Gurung dress with plenty of sheer cut-outs, the actress stuck to an edgy look but softened things up with bright pink lips and a nice bronze glow on her cheeks.

Makeup artist Kate Lee used mainly Chanel cosmetics to bring out the color in Mara’s fair complexion and designed the look to complement the dress and give the actress a lip color that looked “just bitten.”

Lee started with Chanel’s Hydramax serum then applied Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere foundation with a damp beauty blender sponge. Kevyn Aucoin’s cream blush in Tresbelle was added only to the apples of the cheeks and certainly worked to bring out Mara’s sky-high cheekbones. Lee left the eyelids completely nude, choosing to put the focus on the mouth, which was done in a color she called the perfect ruddy shade of brownish red: Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet in La Somptueuse, which she applied as a stain.
