Dressing for the holidays is part of the season’s fun. But in L.A, the land of seasonless dressing, how do you spice up your wardrobe so it is feels right for this time of year without breaking out tacky Christmas sweaters or reindeer antler headbands?

Easy -- just think festive and whimsical.

One item is all you really need, especially when there’s sparkle or a punch of holiday red involved.
AG Adriano Goldschmied makes the sequin pants at right in red, blue and black ($225 at AG Beverly Hills). They’re a statement piece that will certainly do the trick to liven up your outfit for holiday parties.

If sequins aren’t your thing during the holidays, or ever, think about jewelry. The firework cuff by CC Skye ($230 at www.ccskye.com), shown at top right, has a fun vintage quality with a lot of shine, while a bold jade necklace, above, from Cayetano Legacy ($179 at www.cayetanolegacy.com) is versatile enough for winter or summer dressing.

Of course, the quickest way to brighten up a cold-weather look is with a pop of cheery red lipstick. Dolce and Gabbana’s Ruby lipstick in Iconic ($37 at www.saks.com), at left, is a stunning shade of poppy-crimson color. And the gem-topped gold lipstick tube looks chic coming out of a clutch.

It’s not something to wear, but the scent of Diptyque’s Epinette candle ($68 at www.diptyqueparis.com), top left, contains notes of fresh pine needles, Siberian pine, balsam fir, wood and resin, making it an instant way to get into the spirit of the season.

In this Sunday’s Image section, we asked several designers and fashion tastemakers what they look forward to wearing around the holidays. Answers ran the gamut from a certain shade of lipstick to purple leather pants and a rich velvet tuxedo jacket, but each was undoubtedly very chic and most importantly, personal. Very inspiring!
