The wedding ring Joe DiMaggio gave Marilyn Monroe on their Jan. 14, 1954, wedding day will be one of the items up for bid in an upcoming three-day auction of Hollywood memorabilia.

Calabasas-based Profiles in History, the company organizing the auction, describes the piece of jewelry as ‘a platinum eternity band set with 35 baguette-cut diamonds (one diamond missing),’ and estimates it to fetch $300,000 to $500,000. Another piece of Marilyn memorabilia up for bid will be a nude painting of the late actress (bearing the signature ‘Earl Moran’), which is expected to sell for $70,000 to $90,000.

The auction house has been announcing the items to be offered Dec. 15-17 in a piecemeal fashion (last week, it announced that a pair of screen-worn ruby slippers from ‘The Wizard of Oz’ would be up for bid) and has yet to announce where it will take place.

But one thing we’re pretty sure of is that, with the auction just 10 days before the Yuletide holiday, there’s an opportunity for someone to be feeling extra merry when they find said ring in the toe of their Christmas stocking.
