Christina Hendricks overshadowed red carpet maven Sarah Jessica Parker at the New York premiere of Parker’s new film ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It.’ But it was pretty clear how Hendricks did it. It wasn’t so much her rose-colored dress by Vivinenne Westwood as it was the amount of cleavage the dress revealed. [Us]

Parker talked about dressing her character, Kate Reddy, in the film. Unlike Carrie Bradshaw in ‘Sex and the City,’ Reddy isn’t one to wear designer duds. ‘I wanted to be certain she didn’t start dancing around Carrie Bradshaw territory,’ Parker said. ‘So the clothes were 100% off the rack. And when I say off the rack I mean from a discount warehouse in Lower Manhattan.’ [Telegraph]

Nicki Minaj was sitting front and center at Carolina Herrera’s Spring-Summer 2012 show at New York Fashion Week, making fashion watchers pause to wonder why a pop star known for creating her own outre style was viewing a show whose designer is known for classic elegant gowns? Meanwhile British label Mulberry threw itself a 40th anniversary party in New York -- they were also celebrating the opening of a flagship store -- and the music and revelry grew so loud, neighbors called the cops. [Telegraph]

The life of fashion icon Millicent Rogers is celebrated in a new book, ‘Searching for Beauty: The Life of Millicent Rogers” (St. Martin’s Press), by Cherie Burns. A launch party for the tome is scheduled Tuesday in NYC. [WWD]

Ralph Lauren will be the exclusive advertiser on the New York Times’ iPad app for the month of September. Some of the highlights of the campaign include enhanced video, live streaming of Thursday’s New York Fashion Week runway show, past runway shows and a virtual tour of the designer’s car collection, with the ability to click on each car to hear the engine.
