You may wonder why these folks are racing into a store clad only in their underwear.

Or why this man isn’t wearing much more than briefs, sneakers and socks.

They stripped down as part of an attempt to get some free clothes from Barcelona, Spain-based retailer Desigual in a store event in New York City last year.

Now Desigual is inviting Angelenos to do the same thing at its new store on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

Here’s how the ‘underwear party’ works: The first 100 people in line wearing nothing but their skivvies when the store opens at 9 a.m. on Aug. 30 will get to select one top and one bottom free from Desigual’s racks. They’ll also get 50% off anything they buy that day too.

The line will form at 7 a.m., and ‘qualification’ -- the first 100 are counted -- starts at 8 a.m.

Will it be worth it? Well. Desigual’s line of colorful jeans, tops, dresses, jackets and accessories range from $25 to $550, so yeah, if you’ve got a bit of exhibitionist in you and select wisely it could be.

And after all, UCLA’s annual student underwear run has already broken the modesty barrier -- if we ever had one!

Desigual is at 1457 Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica.
