Fashion News: 10-year-old model's mother responds

The mother of Thylane Loubry Blondeau, the 10-year-old model whose depiction in fashion spreads has raised concern about the sexualization of young girls, has reportedly shut down the youngster's Facebook page because of the controversy. "Thylane doesn't know about the buzz and I want to protect her," Veronika Loubry wrote on Thylane's wall. She is also quoted in a French newspaper saying, "She leads a very normal life ... we've turned down a Ralph Lauren campaign!" [Jezebel] [Fashionista]

When Justin Bieber's new fragrance, Someday, was introduced at Harrod's in London last week, the department store created an ice cream sundae inspired by it. The sundae riffs on the fruity top notes of Someday, and mixes in wild berry and vanilla ice cream, fresh pear, lavender sprinkles and edible glitter. It's selling for the equivalent of $32 at current exchange rates, with proceeds going to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which aids children with life-threatening illnesses. [WWD]

"Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" closed Sunday and was the eighth-most-popular exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's 141-year history, the museum announced. The exhibition of work by the late fashion designer attracted 661,509 visitors since it opened May 4. What 's the museum's top exhibit of all time? "Treasures of Tutankhamen," which opened in December 1978, with 1,360,957 visitors over its several-month run. [Wall Street Journal]
