Your Morning Fashion and Beauty Report: Liza Minnelli's French kiss of approval. The Kardashians show some polish.

July 13, 2011 |  7:56 am

AlizaThe French continue their tradition of giving out their Legion of Honor medal to, well, unexpected recipients. Last week it was Anna Wintour, editor in chief of U.S. Vogue, and in the past Arnold Schwarzengger and Clint Eastwood were receipients. This week, it's singer/actress and sometime fashion muse Liza Minnelli. Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand cited Minnelli's extensive career on the stage and her work in fighting AIDS when he bestowed the honor. [Telegraph]

Sarah Jessica Parker is no longer heading up Halston Heritage, the Halston sister label where she had been named chief creative officer about a year and a half ago. No word as to why. [Telegraph]

But Sarah Jessica is on the cover of U.S. Vogue's August issue, marking the sixth time since 2002 that the "Sex and the City" icon has played cover girl for the fashion bible. The issue hits newsstands this week ... and casually breaks the news of her departure from Halston Heritage. [Vogue]

Meanwhile Lara Stone has her seventh Vogue Paris cover in four years. These magazines do have their favorites! [Cut]

Dolce & Gabbana launched an e-commerce site Wednesday, making it easier than ever to buy from the designer label. [WWD] (subscription required)

Information on the Kardashians'  nail polish collaboration with Nicole by OPI is out, and the names are groanworthy: "Kim-pletely in Love," "Kourt is Red-y for a Ped-i" and "Listen to Your Momager" among them. The 14-color collection will be on sale for the holiday season at $8 each. [InStyle]

Latest round in the size wars: British retailer Topshop removed a picture of 18-year-old model Codie Young from its website's homepage after complaints she looked too thin. Topshop contends she is a healthy size 8, but acknowledged that the pose made her look pretty emaciated. [Telegraph]

An unfortunately named lingerie shop (starts with an "F," ends with a "U") that stirred up angst among neighbors on L.A.'s trendy Melrose Avenue has closed after six months. [Mondette]
