Hair feathers.

No, that’s not a corruption of the old-fashioned expletive “horsefeathers.” It’s a trend that’s grabbed hold in local hair salons and is likely to last, oh, at least through summer. The look involves adding feathers with tiny little combs just as you would regular hair extensions.

I first noticed it when a chic young hair stylist of my acquaintance added a single yellow and black striped feather to her blonde tresses after attending a Lady Gaga concert last month. Then writer Kavita Daswani pointed out that celebrities including Steven Tyler, Hilary Duff and Jennifer Love Hewitt have given the trend a spin. And all the feathered fascinators on view at the royal wedding? Those are bound to spark even more feathers in our future.
