Derek Lam for EBay on sale now

Ebaydahlia It's what EBay is calling the first-ever crowd-sourced designer collection. Shoppers voted on the final five dresses on sale Tuesday exclusively at DerekLam.eBay.com, choosing from 16 styles Lam designed and showed during New York's spring/summer 2011 fashion week in February.

Priced at $125 to $295, in sizes from 0 to 16, the collection includes a baby floral sundress, a sweeping black cotton poplin evening gown, and a flirty denim dress with a swishy skirt. More than 120,000 votes were cast. Still, I was disappointed, when the styles were revealed a few weeks ago, that my favorites were not chosen. I guess that's crowd-sourced design for you.

Then, to my surprise, I saw this morning that there is a bonus dress--a silk poplin T-shirt dress with a drawstring waist that comes in dahlia pink or black. It's my pick (I'm a sucker for pink), and just $125. The only catch? You have to download the EBay Fashion app to access it.
