When I saw them on the runway in Paris last October, I wasn’t sure. But now that spring has sprung, and there is low-hanging fruit on the trees all over Los Angeles, I’m in love with Stella McCartney’s juicy citrus prints. The designer has splashed them across pieces including a high-waist skirt and a silk halter dress. But these items seem particularly suited to SoCal. The organic cotton T-shirt is $265, the Falabella chain bag $1,395 and the teeny bikini $485. All of the items are available at the Stella McCartney boutique on Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood.

‘I wanted to add a punch of color in the collection and I think that doing it with a really bold citrus print gives it a slight sense of humor,’ McCartney said in an email. ‘But I also wanted it to be really easy to wear and just to have a real feeling of summer; being free and light.’

Not only do the sunny prints remind me of the fruit trees we take for granted in L.A., but they also bring to mind the kinds of vintage fruit crate labels, juice glasses and tablecloths you might find at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. And fresh-squeezed lemonade, of course. Or better yet, homemade margaritas with fresh squeezed limes. The perfect toast to the season.
