Most of us in the U.S. turned our clocks forward at 2 a.m. Sunday. For the last few days we’ve offered gift ideas inspired by the switch to daylight saving time. Now that days are longer, we wish everyone the gift of light.

Get daylight saving time off to a brilliant start with Artecnica’s Bright Side lights ($95 at emmohome.com). Created by New York design trio Rich Brilliant Willing, these retro-style lights reinvented in thick cast, recycled glass can be used as hanging pendants or, reclined on their sides, as table lamps. What makes them particularly special are the optimistic messages in raised font that adorn the top of each glass shade. Choose from one of three styles and phrases: “In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary,” “Always look on the bright side of life” or “You can’t have light without darkness.”
