London Fashion Week: David Koma hits the spot

London’s most fashionable set, including the prime minister’s wife Samantha Cameron and socialite-eccentric Daphne Guinness, turned out for newcomer David Koma’s dotty show. And it was easy to see why. The Georgian native, who graduated from the prestigious Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, was one of London Fashion Week’s hottest tickets, having already dressed the likes of Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Inspired by Japanese conceptual artist Yayoi Kusama, Koma picked up on fall’s polka dot trend (also seen at Marc Jacobs), showing a sophisticated, sexy collection. Tight-fitting dresses and skirts were contoured with polka dot prints and cut-outs in all different colors and sizes. There was also a terrific black cape with cutout spots. Bright colored fur added whimsy. You might even want to try this at home: giant fur pompoms on ribbons, tied around the neck.

Koma seems to be going places. This month, he’s launching a capsule collection for British designer-booster, fast-fashion giant TopShop.
