Los Angeles-based casual-wear brand Splendid, famous for its ultra-soft fabrics and trendy silhouettes, is the latest label to collaborate with Target on a capsule collection.

Although the brand is synonymous with the sexy, sun-kissed California look, its Target offering — Splendid Littles for Target — is focused to lure fashion-minded new moms rather than club-cruising beach bunnies.

The baby and toddler line is a lower-priced version of the brand’s own collection for tots, Splendid Littles, which spins out stylish, high-priced looks for the swing-set crowd (think $68 jersey dresses cleverly tailored for toddlers).

Featuring clothes, bibs and blankets for newborns through Size 5T toddlers, Splendid’s Target collection — which will be available through late March — features far fewer bells and whistles than are present in its luxury line but retains the brand’s vivid color palette and signature striped fabrics.

Looks for little gals include striped bodysuits, a lavender ruffled halter-neck dress with a matching striped cardigan, a blue-and-pink striped tunic with coordinating leggings, and a striped pink-and-navy hoodie and T-shirt dress.

Diminutive dudes, meanwhile, can gear up in striped bodysuits, hoodies and collared shirts with solid-colored long sleeves sewn on underneath (for that ‘baby grunge’ look).

The collection features a mix of cotton, spandex, polyester and modal and ‘offers the same great, optimistic style and clean aesthetic as Splendid Littles, made in soft yarns for an ultra-luxurious, yummy feel,’ said Jonathan Saven, president of Splendid.

And bringing home that yummy feel is now far less expensive. Prices for the Target collection range from $6.99 for a set of striped bibs to $29.99 for a cute newborn sleep set, which includes a blanket, a striped body suit and a pocket-sized striped cap.
