Nicole Richie has been so prolific in the fashion arena with her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry and shoe line and her Winter Kate clothing line it’s surprising that she’s just launching sunglasses this spring, especially because it’s her obsession with wearing various giant shades that catapulted her into her role as style setter and designer.

While Richie’s aesthetic is more boho and eclectic, her new line of glasses under the House of Harlow label is full of glam, over-sized styles that look more Iris Apfel than Hollywood hippie.

The line includes 6 styles of acetate glasses, from thick cat eye frames like the Chelsea, which Richie has been sporting on a daily basis, to the Sasha, an almost Willy Wonka-esque pair of oval frames with gold temple chains.

To create this collection of eyewear, Richie was inspired by old costumes and films and named each style after family members, friends and her style icons.

The glasses certainly work with that old Hollywood starlet appeal that Richie seems to love and has more recently infused into her other lines, tempering the boho aspect a bit. Perhaps a sign that she’s becoming more refined and grown-up as a designer, rather than continuing with that loose and layered hippie look.

The House of Harlow 1960 line ranges from $110 to $195 and are hitting stores now.
