Katherine Ross, wife of L.A. County Museum of Art director Michael Govan, has a new gig -- U.S. brand consultant for Balenciaga.

Ross, a veteran of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton and Prada, is a natural for the job, with her art world ties on both the East and West coasts. (Govan was president and director at Dia Art Museum in New York City before coming to Los Angeles in 2006.) She will be charged with refocusing the French fashion house’s communications strategy.

What will that mean? Expect Balenciaga and its creative director Nicholas Ghesquiere to host a lot more art events, especially in Los Angeles. Oh, and celebrity dressing -- my guess is that will ramp up, too.
