Most creative use of amazing jewels: Julianne Moore’s Lanvin gown held up by a Bulgari choker necklace with 79 carats of diamonds. Wow. Claire Danes’ 1970s-era Fred Leighton gold and diamond cuff was the perfect accent to her modern-looking, neon pink Calvin Klein dress. I also thought Natalie Portman’s diamond Tiffany necklace was just the right touch with her Viktor & Rolf gown.

And you gotta love Johnny Depp with his vintage pocketwatch, circa 1900, and ‘sparrow’ ring, circa 1840. The pieces are from the Gray jewelry gallery in West Hollywood. Hailee Steinfeld, on the other hand, wore almost no jewelry, except for a nine-row sterling silver Elsa Peretti bracelet valued at less than $950, which seems just right for a 14-year-old.

But what is up with the black enamel and turquoise brooch on Nicole Kidman’s shoulder? At first, I thought it was a microphone. Turns out it’s also Fred Leighton, circa 1920s.
