Natalie Portman’s recent red carpet gowns have obviously been pregnancy friendly, but her accessory choices always remain animal friendly. In order to stick to her no leather or animal byproduct mantra, the vegan actress has a smaller pool of shoes to choose from when it comes to getting dressed for award shows and premieres.

Last night at the Directors Guild of America awards, she paired her black Michael Kors dress with satin and rubber heels from Aldo. The “Labrie” pump ($90) is a d’orsay, peep-toe style heel that looks pretty good for containing no leather at all.

Portman has turned to Aldo for several movie premieres in the past, and it will be interesting to see if she brings the mall brand into the higher fashion arena during this evening’s SAG awards or maybe even the Oscars.

Kate Walsh carried a $30 Aldo clutch to the 2009 Emmy awards.

And with this rain, why ruin a $1,000-plus pair of Louboutins?
