You could trim this year’s Christmas pine with a box of drugstore-bought candy canes, or you could trick out your tree with ornaments designed by celebrities to benefit a good cause.

Shopping network HSN recently debuted its heART HSN 2010 Designer Ornament collection — a 70-plus piece collection of ornaments designed by notables including Sean Combs, Padma Lakshmi, Molly Sims, Tori Spelling, Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwen Stefani.

All profits from the collection — that’s 30% of the purchase price — benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The designs range from the wacky (Emeril Lagasse’s has a radish on it; Iman’s bears a portrait of her dressed up like Mrs. Claus) to the eye-popping (Twiggy’s features a glittering Union Jack graphic) to the sweetly chic — Sarah Jessica Parker’s round bauble is swathed in printed fabrics and topped with a darling hot-pink bow.

“Through the sale of these exclusive heART ornaments during the holidays, HSN will once again help St. Jude in the fight against childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases,’ said Marlo Thomas, national outreach director for St. Jude. ‘Everyone who buys one of these beautiful ornaments will be giving hope to the precious children who are fighting for their lives.”

Ornaments range in price from $19.90 to $49.90, with a single swanky ornament designed by fashion designer Naeem Khan and covered in Swarovski crystals ringing in at $299.

Since the ornament initiative began in 2005, HSN customers have raised approximately $3 million in support of St. Jude.
