Trend watch: The platform wedge boot clomps back into vogue

I was at a dinner party recently that included a cache of twentysomething L.A. fashion editors — and nearly all of them were experimenting with a shoe style that was last in vogue in the early 1990s, when, stylistically, grunge was giving way to a glittery, drag-queen-inspired dance party.

Enter the platform wedge boot. Tall, chunky — and some might say Frankenstein clunky — it's picking up where summer's ubiquitous peep-toed stiletto bootie is currently leaving off.

Tempted by the style's height-boosting effects? You could drop the mortgage payment on a pair of  Guiseppe Zanottis. Or you could recognize a fleeting trend when you see it and relegate last night's babysitting cash to a cheap-'n'-easy pair.

Below, a few ways to get on your high horse:

Acne

Aldo

Rick
