Los Angeles-based jewelry brand TomTom has just released a collection of spiky pieces meant to evoke the spacey world of ‘Tron’ — both the circa-1982 classic starring Jeff Bridges and the forthcoming ‘Tron: Legacy,’ out Dec. 17.

The collaboration with Disney Consumer Products is one of four high-end collections created to promote the new film. L.A. shoemaker Jerome Rousseau created a ‘Tron’ show; Brooklyn-based accessories brand Hayden-Harnett designed black ‘Tron’-inspired leather goods; and New York jeweler Rotenier created sculptural silver jewelry.

But TomTom’s ‘Tron’ offering is the most, well, fun of the four. Otherworldly, but also highly kitschy (you could envision the pieces on a ‘Star Trek’-ing Whoopi Goldberg), the collection incorporates gunmetal-plated brass, mirrored blue lucite and blue topaz stones into triangular, exaggerated designs.

‘To conceptualize the pieces, I re-watched the original ‘Tron’ movie and all of the ‘Tron Legacy’ movie trailers available online,’ said TomTom designer Elena Coleman. ‘I really wanted to capture the essence of the overall visual landscape of the film, which is a dark, forbidding world that is given life by glowing lights of the city, the character’s suits and the brilliant trails of light left by the vehicles racing across the landscape.’

Priced from $255 to $495, the futuristic collection will be available on TomTom’s website and at a ‘Tron: Legacy’ pop-up shop set to bow in November (location to be announced).
