Model Jessica Stam designs a line for RACHEL Rachel Roy
There’s undoubtedly a current obsession with the “model off duty” look. Every style website and blog has a section dedicated to the slightly disheveled and understated glam look that supermodels don when not walking the runway. And more and more models are coming out with clothing lines (most recently Claudia Schiffer, and don’t forget Erin Wasson’s jewelry or Kate Moss’ soon-to-be defunct line for Top Shop).
Now model Jessica Stam has collaborated with designer Rachel Roy, designing a four-piece collection for Roy’s lower-priced line RACHEL Rachel Roy carried at Macy’s. The handful of pieces, consisting of an army-inspired belt, a chain-strap bucket bag, a check print cardigan and black skinny jeans, launches Wednesday in Macy’s stores and on rachelroy.com
“I have always loved Jessica’s unique look off the runway," Roy says. "Her sharp eye for trends lead to the design aesthetic for this limited collection.”
They are certainly cute and basic staple items, which unlike other model-designed clothing out there (Kate Moss) may look as flattering on mere mortals as they do on supermodels.
The Jessica Stam for RACHEL Rachel Roy collection ranges from $49 for the belt to $199 for the bag.
