If fall’s high-heeled Timberland-esque boots and wedged hiking booties are feeling far too rugged for you, the various versions being done of the desert boot might be a more palatable footwear choice.

I’ve always loved classic Clarks Desert Boots for their subtle tomboy appeal and of course, the undeniable comfort factor. This season, Desert Boots (which Clarks modeled after the shoes of British officers in WWII and debuted in 1950) come in various styles such as wedges, stack heels and more sleek and feminine versions than the original.
