Bridal diapers: The next big wedding trend?
In case loyal Image section and All the Rage readers couldn't tell from my blog posts and stories on the subject, I'm getting married soon. And I can honestly tell you that one of my biggest fears for that big day is the awkward feeling I'll have to embrace when I ask my maid of honor for help dealing with my gown and its train if I have to go to the bathroom (even though she professes not to mind).
Voluminous skirts, lengthy trains, rows of tiny buttons -- all of this can make the simple call of nature more like a two- or three-person, time-consuming production number. Still, I don't know if the latest "trend" is an appropriate solution: According to Marie Claire, bridal message boards are buzzing about wedding day diapers. Bridal stores are already selling these nappies, says writer Courtney Dunlop, who makes a good point that vendors are "probably just taking a box of Depends and jacking up the price" like anything else to do with a wedding. So, naturally it's only a matter of time before these things go designer, right? Kind of like Cynthia Rowley when she made her designer Pampers.
We know that brides come in all shapes and sizes and there are health conditions that make this a necessity for some brides, but we have to wonder if this is a big enough concern to bring in the advertising and branding specialists. Have you worn something like a diaper under your wedding gown? Would you? Did you wish you had? Share in the comments.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Going to the bathroom on your wedding day with a lengthy train and a voluminous dress is really not that difficult. I actually did it. I didn't realize I performed such a feat.

Manufacturers will sell anything and unbelieveably some people will actually buy them. I know people wear diapers at the casino's and people think that is gross. Is this not gross as well?

Not. Cool. I don't care if you're wearing a train longer than Princess Di's, grown women do not wear diapers! Wouldn't you rather just take the time to go to the bathroom rather than smell like pee on your wedding night? I won't even go into the uncomfortability of the whole situation. This is why every bride should have a short white dress to change into for the reception.

Why don't they just make it easier to pee in a wedding gown? What happens later? I'm imagining one very intimate wedding night. I think a lot of women are going to have regrets about getting married in a soiled diaper.

This article, this topic, is a stupid, self-absorbed waste of space. Good grief.

PLEASE tell me this is a joke. I managed with a dress and a train and a corset and a garter belt and stockings. It's really not that hard.

Geez, its not that hard - no daiper necessary!
Worst comes to the worst you sit on the toilet backwards so you face the cistern - that way your dress does not have to bunch up behind you.

Thanks for the post! Very interesting, I haven't heard of these bridal diapers before, but they sound like a great idea for some people!

This is no joke. I wore a diaper on my wedding day and was glad I did. Because of it I did not miss anything during my wedding day as I was not spending a half an hour in the bathroom each time I had to go. The only person that knew was my husband and mom.
