Hurley hosts an art-architecture exhibition at the Laguna Art Museum

Surf and skate fashion company Hurley is gearing up to host "Art Shack," an exhibit combining art and architecture. It is running from June 13 through Oct. 3 at the Laguna Art Museum.

Featuring 31 California artists — including Don Ed Hardy, Shag, Paul Frank, Sandow Birk and Hurley resident artist Jason Maloney — the hip exhibition asks artists to build their concept of a "shack" inside the museum's exhibit hall.

As yes, some of the shacks will be interactive — you can stroll inside them for a multimedia experience that often includes film and music.

Don Ed Hardy's "Tat Cat Shack (Tattoo Hut)," for example, will feature an activated tattoo machine. Artist Marnie Weber's shack will boast a Super 8 film, "The Red Nurse and the Snowman," while Craig Stecyk III will be erecting a small shack on the roof of the museum that will only visible through the security camera monitors (artsy, indeed).

Other participating artists include Kim Abeles, Esteban Bojorquez, Russell Crotty and Jed Lind, Laurie Hassold, Michael McMillen, Savanna Snow and Martin Wittfooth.
