It may have been smack dab in the middle of Game 7 of the NBA finals, but dedicated fans of Katie Simone Nehra’s line, Simone, flocked to a private residence in Beverly Hills Thursday night to view the fall 2010 collection and swig prosecco poolside.

Nehra’s fall line, which is full of military-inspired jackets, cropped fur vests and the fitted leather motorcycle jackets that put her on the map, was displayed for fans to peruse as well as pre-order. It was a bit tough to get into the black lace dresses and heavy jackets (cute as they may be) with the balmy June climate and sparkling blue pool in the mix, but hearing Nehra’s inspiration was something most people could relate to. “I’ve been listening to a lot of The Smiths,” she said. “I think that’s why everything is done in dark colors and a lot of black.” This translated into black lace mini dresses, textural black on black ruffled shirt dresses and a black velvet burnout “gown” that dipped long in the back and crept back up to way short in the front.

By sunset, the number of guests mingling in the backyard dissipated to the single digits and any fashion-related fun ended. The game was on in the living room and many of the girls, in their short dresses, Louboutins and all, flocked to the couch to watch the Lakers take the championship.
