Banana Republic has tapped jewelry designer Chan Luu to create a collection of limited-edition bracelets for the brand — the chain’s first-ever collaboration with an outside jewelry designer.

Launching Thursday at Banana Republic’s accessories-only store in San Francisco, Edition by Banana Republic, the collection features Luu’s signature wrap style, using custom-dyed thread or leather with semiprecious stones, gold and sterling silver.

Priced from $95 to $225, the cool bracelets are pricey but casual enough to be worn every day and charming enough to dress-down a fancy frock in high style. Though the collection initially will be sold only at Edition, the company plans to roll out the bracelets to ‘select stores’ and online in the U.S. beginning Aug 10.

Originally from Vietnam, Luu is a graduate of L.A.’s Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and operated a boutique on Robertson Boulevard for years before closing it to focus solely on the wholesale side of her business, which includes clothing and accessories.

“It’s such a pleasure for me to collaborate with Banana Republic, a classic brand whose timeless collections provide the perfect canvas for my own,’ designer said. ‘What makes our partnership even more extraordinary is our shared belief in celebrating the power of personal expression.”
