Red carpet gowns and up-dos go together like peanut butter and marshmallow fluff. But when done well, hair left down can look fresh and modern on the red carpet. And Cameron Diaz, who regularly pushes the boundaries of ‘formal style,’ certainly showed that down-dos can be equally chic on the red carpet.

The blond bombshell went for classic Hollywood waves (think Rita Hayworth), to complement her beaded gold Oscar de la Renta strapless gown. Hairdresser Lona Vigi, who created the style, blow-dried Diaz’s hair with a Velecta Paramount Paris TGR 4000 blow-dryer, using the ‘cool air’ switch to set waves in place.

‘I also used the Volumizer Catalyst product from LiQWD, which is the greatest product for fine hair,’ said Vigi. ‘Then we hot-rollered her whole head, so she could wear the waves swept to one side, old Hollywood-style.’
