Capturing the Spirit (Awards): eggshell fragility with a steel backbone

Moving from the beach into downtown and making the 25th anniversary of the Independent Spirit Awards an evening affair made the blue carpet much more glam than in past years, and in this Rager’s humble opinion, the quartet of starlets epitomized the takeaway look for the evening; fragile eggshell glamour with just the slightest hint of hardness peeking through.

That would be (from left) Rosario Dawson in Stella McCartney, Carey Mulligan in what we’ve been told is a dress by London-based designer Christopher Kane, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ actress Mia Wasikowska (who was nominated for an award for her role in ‘That Evening Sun’) in Rodarte, and Mena Suvari in head-to-toe Sonia Rykiel.
