Kinara Spa offers Oscar nominees and presenters a free day of beauty

March 5, 2010 | 12:30 pm

Kinara "We are a good luck charm," said Olga Lorencin-Northrup, owner of West Hollywood's Kinara Spa. "When nominees come to us, they win."

But then the proprietor -- who's been inviting Oscar nominees and presenters for a full day of free beauty treatments leading up to the big awards show for six years now -- already has a sizable celebrity clientele, including Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, Annette Bening and Helen Mirren (who, indeed, indulged in services at Kinara before her best actress win in 2007 for "The Queen").

Lorencin-Northrup, who opened Kinara in 2003, is tight-lipped about who will be sauntering through her frosted glass doors in the next two days, but said she is always surprised by how many celebrities take her up on her invite, which includes a gratis Red Carpet Facial (defined by a skin-smoothing lactic-acid-based exfoliation process), body treatment and Red Carpet Manicure and Pedicure (featuring hand and feet "masks" full of exfoliating peptides and red algae).

She considers the gift a "thank you" to the industry that has helped her business thrive -- noting, "It's like our Thanksgiving for Hollywood."
