The Academy Awards’ major players change every year, but New York-based jewelry company Harry Winston is always on the red carpet — adding high-wattage bling to strapless sheaths, princess dresses and even Armani suits.

To fete this year’s Oscars, the company threw a cocktail party at its Beverly Hills flagship store to showcase its Red Carpet Collection: a collection of big-carat gems inspired by red carpets past, present and future.

For the intimate cocktail party, the company created special displays featuring enlarged photos of various celebrities — Anne Hathaway, Glenn Close, Angelina Jolie and Robert Downey Jr. among them — hung behind the baubles they wore on various red carpets. (In a few cases, in which styles were discontinued, pieces that came close to the originals were displayed.)

‘This was an opportunity to showcase the breadth of the brand and see certain pieces up close,’ said Meredith Keller, director for Harry Winston. ‘People can see how big a certain ring is or what something really looked like — it’s fun.’
