The Los Angeles chapter of Fashion Group International lured a handful of burgeoning and established designers to its second seasonal ‘The Designers & Their Muses’ party at the downtown Standard Hotel on Wednesday night.

The multi-tiered evening, which included a performance by musician Katie Cole, saw designers walking the lobby, mezzanine and rooftop with models dressed in looks from the designers’ most recent collections.

Though the evening didn’t pack the glam ambience (and laundry list of buzzy names) of Gen Art’s poolside soiree the previous evening, it boasted what seemed like an equal number of ‘Project Runway’ alums.

Mila Hermanovski, who co-stars on the current season, showed up with a model dressed in a leather, wool and silk party dress wrought in the designer’s signature black-and-white. Hermanovski, a long-time costumer, said she perceives the TV show, and events such as the FGI party as a way to ‘come out as a designer,’ adding, ‘I plan on being locally based in L.A., but I really want to show in New York. This is a great way to say hello.’

Jesus Estrada, who also co-starred in this season’s ‘Runway,’ dressed his model in a dramatic, goth-lite gown with a single long sleeve peppered with silver spikes. ‘Let’s try to make L.A. edgy and modern,’ said the San Diego-based designer.

Though designers were asked to come with their ‘celebrity muse,’ Lloyd Klein was the only designer with a notable on his arm; Natalie Cole was dressed in a show-stopping kelly green draped gown from the designer.

‘The color is so brilliant,’ said the singer. ‘It happens to be St. Patrick’s Day, and it also happens to be my dad’s birthday.’

Cole met Klein through her personal assistant, who thought the pair would get on. ‘It’s been a romance ever since,’ she said.
