Who says the fashion industry is coldhearted? Latoya Headley, a 25-year-old battling an aggressive form of brain cancer, was granted her ultimate “wish” – to go to New York Fashion Week. And two of fashion’s biggest names, Diane Von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta, helped make the experience extra meaningful. The Dream Foundation, a nonprofit organization that fulfills biggie wishes for adults living with life-threatening diseases, facilitated the trip to the Fall 2010 shows for the young fashion fan. Headley attended the Diane Von Furstenberg runway show on Sunday and had the chance to meet briefly with the designer. The following day she spent an hour with a very accommodating De la Renta, who gave her a “sneak peek” of his latest collection just before his runway show.

“Here we are, right in the middle of frenzied New York Fashion Week, and these amazing designers took pause to spend quality time with Latoya,’ said Hollye Jacobs, program director for the Dream Foundation. ‘They saw to it that Latoya’s Dream was magically fulfilled. We are all grateful.”
