New York Fashion Week: Nails come in all shades of greige at Marc Jacobs
To reflect the soft shades of gray Marc Jacobs used throughout his fall/winter 2010 collection, Creative Nail Design painted models' nails with combos of taupe, light lavender and putty gray.
Beige and gray nails have been trendy since OPI released “You don’t know Jacques” and now with the parade of cloudy nails that went down the Marc Jacobs runways, this storm doesn’t show signs of stopping.
Artists from CND created custom blends in order to achieve each shade of gray, greige and lavender. Below is what they concocted from the CND line of nail polish to get tones that complemented Jacob’s collection. It looks like a lot of chemistry and color balancing, so those who love to be on trend might find themselves mixing batches of nail lacquer to make their own custom color.

Looks like she slammed her fingers in the car door.
No, seriously, it's ugly. And so are those models.

Some of these gray tones are intriguing... They closely reflect the state of things across the globe- the zeitgeist if you will . Personally I have always enjoyed Marc Jacob's work in particular. He is a truly an artist; one that revels in using the body as his canvas to drape, cinch, and applique fabric to enhance and sometimes distort the female form. And, whether or not his underlying story is understood, there is always exists meaning behind his creations. Now, that being said, I would have liked to see something a little brighter in the smaller details (like the nails). It would have given a spark of life to the barrage of neutral tones parading down the runways this spring. Simply put: Grays and beiges are depressing. No matter how trendy, I will absolutely not be wearing this look next fall!

Oh, okay. I've been feeling increasingly frustrated wondering why I couldn't get this look straight out of the bottle. This makes me feel better.
