Opening Ceremony teams up with Levi's for a series of seasonal collections

Opening ceremony Opening Ceremony, one of the hippest retailers on the planet, is teaming up with one of the most venerated brands in fashion: Levi's.

The two companies are introducing the first in a series of seasonal, co-branded collections based on Levi's archival styles -- updated with cool new fabrics, washes and details -- for Spring 2010.

The first co-branded collection will offer up a variation on the classic Levi's 505 corduroy jean -- a thin-leg, fine-whale style that debuted in the 1980s. There will be unisex corduroy pants and shorts, a corduroy shirt and men's and women's jean jackets (in both denim and -- you guessed it -- corduroy). All corduroy styles will be available in a rainbow of colors: fuchsia, teal, lavender, beige, curry, olive, navy and white. Prices will range from $106 to $178.

"When you think American heritage, Levi's is the first brand that comes to mind," said Opening Ceremony's co-founder, Humberto Leon, in a press release. "The brand evokes both a sense of history and of nostalgia but above all else, is a timeless classic."

The Levi’s + Opening Ceremony collection will debut during New York Fashion Week (Feb. 11-18) at Opening Ceremony stores in New York, Tokyo and Los Angeles, on levi.com, at the Levi’s flagship in San Francisco and inside a few other high-end boutiques such as Colette in Paris.

And don't worry if you don't catch the first collection -- this tasty collaboration will be ongoing.
