At the Golden Globes, breakout talent Gabourey Sidibe (‘Precious’) will be wearing a malachite-colored gown with a crystal-embellished waistband and billowy sleeves by L.A. designer Kevan Hall. Like Jennifer Hudson and Adele, Sidibe is a star who does not fit fashion’s size 2 mold. So this award show season, several L.A. names have stepped up to the plate to dress her, including Tadashi Shoji and David Meister. Bravo.

Also, early word that Giorgio Armani is going to have a very good night, dressing Penelope Cruz, Reese Witherspoon and Helen Mirren. Fashionista Diane Kruger is confirmed to wear a haute couture gown by Christian Lacroix, who filed for bankruptcy last year, proving that business success and red carpet success are not always one and the same.
