Before heading out to the holiday sales, gift receipt in hand, get some fashion inspiration from some of our readers’ favorite features from 2009:

Barneys New York in Beverly Hills had its $78 ‘Hashish’ candles in Jonathan Adler pots, Los Angeles had its THC Expo hemp and art show, Showtime had its fifth season of ‘Weeds.’ This was a big year for pot.

‘The stoner is the new drunk,’ said Robert Thompson, a professor of television and pop culture at the University of Syracuse S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, in an August article.

In the article, Times staff writer Adam Tschorn talked about our culture’s newly developing acceptance (and, dare we say, obsession) with weed, as fashion, films, TV and politicians all began to embrace it, despite its illegality under federal law. Read the full article here.
