Digging through our closets: Designers' shoes going to the extreme

Before heading out to the holiday sales, gift receipt in hand, get some fashion inspiration from some of our readers’ favorite features from 2009.

We love shoes so much we dedicated a whole issue to it in November. But designers, with their creativity and edginess, can take it to a whole new level and this year on the runways, they did: with kicks boasting extreme platforms, animal-inspired shapes (like Alexander McQueen's armadillo-like snakeskin boots, above), and pin-thin-heeled boots.
