Unless you watch MTV often, you might think Alexa who? Chung briefly hosted MTV’s “It’s On with Alexa Chung” -- the network’s successor to “Total Request Live” -- which was canceled last month. Perhaps more people were interested in what the stylish Brit wore on each episode rather than in her musical guests, including Lady Gaga. But Chung’s status as a style icon should be cemented when British luxury brand Mulberry releases its Alexa satchel bag on Jan. 11.

Melissa Coker, who helms Wren, an L.A.-based contemporary line, also designed an ‘Alexa’ striped sweater after the hostess modeled the collection for the Wren resort lookbook (the sweater will be reprised for spring 2010).

The Alexa handbag is based on Mulberry’s classic men’s briefcase the Elkington, which designer Emma Hill updated in colors (yellow, navy) and fabrics (tweed and leopard print). The Alexa retails from $950 for the tweed version to $1,595 for an oversized leather bag with snake-embossed trim. Available online.
