I love perusing Banana Republic for certain things -- argyle socks, merino wool sweaters, jewel toned and patterned blouses and occasionally some really cute sandals or boots, but denim? Not so much. But now that the premium denim bubble has burst and retailers such as Gap and J Crew are offering designer style jeans starting at under $100, it makes sense to start exploring what mall stores and places like Banana Republic might have in the way of chic denim.

And now is a good time to start looking to Banana Republic for jeans, as they’ve bumped up their collection of denim to include more fits, including skinny, ultimate skinny, slouchy skinny, boyfriend and boot cut for women and vintage straight, straight and boot cut. They’ve added a bunch of more fashion-forward washes and taken inspiration from the monochromatic denim looks on their Spring 2010 runway.

Prices for the denim range from $79.50 to $120. Not bad for a premium feel. You can still grab some argyle socks and come in well under $150.
